Kestrel Prescribed Fire Solutions, LLC was started in 2025 when we saw a need for certified prescribed fire (Rx fire) contractors in our area. Our Rx fire crew has been conducting burns for more than 18 years. Our Rx fire experience includes working for Pheasants Forever and the Ohio Division of Wildlife, as well as helping the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Missouri Department of Conservation on burns.

There are very few certified prescribed fire managers in our area and many landowners have no place local to turn to. The demand for Rx fire is high and we intend to fill that demand with an affordable, safe, and effective approach.

At Kestrel Prescribed Fire Solutions we work hand in hand with local conservation contractors to complete Rx burns. Their equipment for spraying and removing bush honeysuckle and other invasives are well suited for Rx fire. They also have wildlife management degrees, and in most cases are also certified to burn. These contractors just don’t have the time to do everything that comes with Rx burning, such as site visits, consulting, submitting the required paperwork for permits, and or site prep such as fire breaks and downed trees within the burn unit.

Two of these contractors are Seth Rankin, of Conservation Contracting, LLC, (Based out of Hillsboro, Ohio) and Alex Kaiser, of The Conservationist, LLC (based out of Bradford, Ohio). We have known Seth and Alex for nearly 20 years and respect and trust each of them to do the job and do it right.
